Kaleidoscope
counselling

About me and about you!

Hi, I'm Gemma at Kaleidoscope Counselling, an integrated counsellor based in the Stourbridge area. I also work online and in person. I rent rooms in  Wordsley located in stourbridge .

I'm qualfied to level 5 and also have a diploma in mindfulness.I am  fully insured, and a registered member of BACP.  There are many more details about how I work below.

There are times in life when we wake up and realise that not everything is as it should be. We may not be able to put this into words and may not have anyone to talk to. This is were I come in as a neutral, non-judgmental person who can use various methods to explore your feelings. I aim to be affordable, while treating each client as an individual and tailoring therapy to their wants and needs. If you're not sure what you want, that's fine too; we can explore this together.

The name Kaleidoscope comes from my belief that in low times, we often find the colours in our world becoming muted. I believe that with the right support, just like a kaleidoscope, we can put our broken pieces together in a different way and begin to see the glorious technicolor world

My Key areas of work and passions are                                                                                                                                           Working with both adults , young people and their parents who are or feel they may be neurodivgent.

Supporting those who wonder how their faith and mental health

 fit together

Working creativitly with adults who have tried therapy before and found it unhelpful or who want to work in a different way.

Creative Therapies

As a creative therapist, I'm thrilled to use Creative Therapies to help clients connect with their emotions! Initially, I thought this  meant being a traditional artist, but don’t let that title hold you back—I’m not an artist either! With techniques like sand therapy, stone therapy, and metaphor work, I’m here to help you express what’s happening inside. Many of my clients find these methods incredibly helpful, and I do too!

2.

Talking therapies

My clients often share that they crave a space to truly be themselves and feel heard! I’m dedicated to creating a welcoming, non-judgmental environment where you can freely share your thoughts and receive the support you need to move forward with confidence!

3.

 Young people

I work with young people aged 12+ and also with refferals from CAMHS. I have worked with young people outside of the counselling room for 22 years and am aware of the many pressures they face. Young people are often expected to listen and obey rather than being heard and I aim to change this. I use creative methods and talking methods to explore any difficulties  the young person may be facing.

4.

Christian counselling

Jesus said do not worry about anything instead pray and tell God your needs . The truth is though sometimes we do worry and we need someone to walk alongside us. As a mature and commited Christian who has a degree in theology I aim to support all Christians regardless of the differences in denomination.

Therapy Sessions

Common questions

1. What kind of counselling do you offer?

I offer trauma-informed counselling that’s creative and flexible, designed to meet the needs of neurodivergent adults or those exploring if they might be. Sessions can include traditional talk therapy, creative techniques, or a mix depending on what feels right for you. I offer both online sessions and in-person sessions in Wordsley, Stourbridge.

2. Who can benefit from this type of therapy?

Anyone feeling anxious, stressed, or stuck, or who wants a different approach to therapy, can benefit. It’s especially supportive for adults who are neurodivergent or exploring neurodivergence. If you’re local to Wordsley, Stourbridge, in-person sessions are available.

3. How is this different from regular therapy?

This approach is more flexible and creative, integrating activities, art, and alternative methods, not just talk therapy. It’s tailored to how you think, process, and express yourself.

4. How do I know if I’m ready for counselling?

If you’re feeling anxious, overwhelmed, or curious about exploring your thoughts and feelings in a safe space, you’re ready. You don’t need a diagnosis to start.

5. What should I expect in a first session?

We’ll focus on getting to know you,.There’s no pressure, and you can share as much or as little as you feel comfortable with.

6. How long does a session last, and how often should I come?

Sessions usually last 50 minutes. Many people start weekly or every other week, but we’ll create a schedule that fits your needs.

7. Can this counselling be done online?

Yes! I offer secure online sessions, as well as in-person sessions in Wordsley, Stourbridge, for those who prefer face-to-face support.

8. Is therapy confidential?

Absolutely.Everything you share stays private. Exceptions only apply if there’s a risk of harm to yourself or someone else.

9. What if I don’t feel like it’s helping?

That’s okay! Therapy is a process. We can adjust the approach, try different methods, or explore new goals until it feels right for you.

10. How do creative or alternative therapy methods work?

Creative therapy uses art, movement, or other hands-on techniques to help you express emotions, process trauma, and explore solutions in ways that might feel more natural than just talking.

11. Do I need to be artistic or creative to try creative therapy?

Not at all. You don’t need any skills or experience—just a willingness to try different ways of exploring your feelings.

12. How do I get started?

Reach out via my website or email, and we’ll schedule a free initial consultation to see if we’re a good fit. If you’re local to Wordsley, Stourbridge, in-person sessions can be booked directly.
